You can now buy Mahindra XEV 9e for Rs 13.90 lakh, XEV 9S for Rs 12.65 lakh
The BaaS option is now available across all variants of the BE 6 Sporteq, XEV 9S and XEV 9e, lowering their upfront prices by separating vehicle and battery financing.
by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayMahindra has expanded its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme to its entire electric origin SUV portfolio. The financing option, which was initially introduced with the BE 6 Sporteq, is now available across all variants of the BE 6 Sporteq, XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
Under the BaaS structure, customers finance the vehicle and battery separately. Mahindra says this reduces the upfront cost of purchasing an electric SUV, while the battery is financed through a separate loan with an effective usage cost starting at Rs 3.75 per km.
With BaaS, the BE 6 Sporteq is available from Rs 11.45 lakh, while the XEV 9S and XEV 9e start at Rs 12.65 lakh and Rs 13.90 lakh, respectively. These prices are ex-showroom and exclusive of the battery cost, which is financed separately.
Mahindra says the BaaS programme has received a strong response since its introduction, prompting the company to extend it to its flagship electric SUVs. The programme is aimed at lowering the initial cost of EV ownership and offering buyers greater flexibility in managing their financing outgo.
The company’s BaaS model is a dual-loan finance product offered through its financing partners and is not a pay-per-use arrangement. The battery EMI starts at Rs 6,975, with the stated effective usage cost of Rs 3.75 per km based on 60km of daily usage and a specified down payment.
The actual battery EMI can vary depending on the battery capacity, down payment and loan tenure. The quoted BaaS prices also exclude the cost of the charger, road tax, insurance, TCS and other applicable statutory charges.
Mahindra currently offers the BE 6 Sporteq, XEV 9S and XEV 9e as part of its Electric Origin SUV range. With BaaS now available across all three models, the company is looking to make its electric SUVs more accessible by reducing their initial purchase cost.
