Paradip: The ban on fishing along a stretch of the Odisha coast to safeguard Olive Ridley sea turtles comes into force from November 1.

As per reports, the state government has restricted mechanised fishing boats and trawlers from venturing within 20 km of the coastline, between November 1 and May 31.

Important coastal regions such as the Devi, Dhamra, Rushikulya and Barunei river mouths are included in the restrictions. The restrictions are for protection of Olive Ridley turtles, which arrive on the Odisha coast in millions, to breed and nest.
