TMC Leader Jahangir Khan arrested by Bengal Special Task Force near Nepal

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress Leader Jahangir Khan who pulled out of the Falta repoll last month was arrested by Bengal Special Task Force (STF) near Nepal.
The arrest was made weeks after him hiding in connection with multiple FIRs, including allegations of tampering with EVMs by applying tapes on BJP symbols on the EVMs in the South 24 Parganas constituency.
This happened after after the Calcutta High Court refused to extend his interim protection. They stated that 5 FIRs were filed against him after the completion of elections on May 4.

Khan had built an impression of himself as ‘Pushpa’, the Telugu film character. Khan was taken out of the contest just before the re-election.
BJP had won the majority of seats by recording a margin while Khan went incommunicado by locking his office.
