JPSC ex-chief arrested amid Jharkhand student protest

Ranchi: Jharkhand Public Service Commission Ex-Chief Arrested L Khiangte has been arrested in connection to irregularities in state recruitment tests.

The arrest comes following students being lathi charged and water cannons being used as students breached the barricades to reach state assembly.

The arrested former chairperson of Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) had resigned from his position on July 22.

As per reports, some students while facing the cannons started to dance which is somewhat similar to what happened during NEET paper leak student protest case.

A protester reiterated the demands for the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and a CBI probe into the irregularities. He told ANI, “We are not going to stop today. Our first demand is to cancel the JSSC-CGL exam, secondly a CBI probe.”

Earlier today, Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, Babulal Marandi, and several BJP leaders were detained by the state police amid protests outside the Chief Minister’s residence against the alleged irregularities in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations.
