New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) offered an opportunity to those voters whose names were not included in the draft electoral rolls in seven States in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The step is being taken to give an opportunity to eligible voters to be added to the final list of voters.

The decision is for Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland. It pertains to electors designated as Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate (ASDD) whose enumeration forms were distributed but not collected by authorities, leaving them off the draft rolls.

The Commission has also asked Chief Electoral Officers to provide new forms of enumerations and to reach out to voters the damage through Booth Level Officers (BLOs), house-to-house visits, WhatsApp, email and SMS.

Booth-wise excluded list of voters along with the reasons for their exclusion will also be published at the polling stations and also uploaded in the respective state election websites.

They can also send in their completed forms together with an explanation for their delay.

Those who have moved within the same state can provide their new address and supporting documents without filing Form 8. For homeless voters without address proof, a BLO’s field verification report will be accepted.

Applications will be examined by Electoral Registration Officers before inclusion in the final electoral rolls.
