Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon has completely withdrawn from India, signalling a seasonal transition towards winter. However, parts of Odisha may continue to receive light rainfall over the next two days, while the weather is expected to remain dry across the state from October 18 onwards.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow warning has been issued for 10 districts in Odisha for the possibility of rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorm on Friday. A similar warning has been issued for five districts on Saturday.

Despite the withdrawal of the monsoon, isolated rainfall is likely to continue in some parts of the state over the next couple of days. Weather conditions are expected to become predominantly dry from October 18.

With the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon, seasonal changes are becoming increasingly noticeable across the country. The inflow of dry and cool winds from the north is likely to bring down minimum temperatures in Odisha by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

The impact of the changing weather is expected to be more in the interior and hilly districts of Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar. Residents in these areas may experience a slight chill during the early morning and nighttime hours.

As the state transitions towards the winter season, temperatures are expected to gradually decline, especially in the interior and elevated regions of Odisha. People can expect cooler nights in the coming days, although light rainfall may persist in isolated areas before dry weather sets in.
