Assam raises dearness allowance to 60%, over 8 lakh beneficiaries to gain

Assam: The increased DA and DR rates would be applicable for serving government employees and also for pensioners, family pensioners, extraordinary pensioners, and compassionate family pensioners.

The increase has been approved, so as to provide relief from the increase in the cost of living due to inflation.

Sources further stated that the revised rates of allowance would be implemented keeping in view the government’s policy on the benefit of government employees and also pensioners.

It is estimated that the move would impact over eight lakh government staff and pensioners and also bring significant benefits to both sections of society. It can be concluded that the move is a significant welfare decision for employees.

The employee associations and pensioners had always been demanding the revision of the DA and DR at the proper intervals, hence they are welcomed by both associations for the same.

Dearness Allowance is paid to the government employees as a means to adjust for the rise in the cost of living, and Dearness Relief for the pensioners serves the same function. The payment for both is revised at specific intervals to negate the impact of inflation.
