10 injured after fire breaks out in naphtha pipeline at refinery in West Bengal

Kolkata: A fire incident took place in which at least 10 people got injured after a naphtha pipeline catches fire at refinery in West Bengal today.

The incident took place early morning and the cause of the fire is yet to be known.

Following the incident, around twelve fire tenders were deployed to the spot to bring the fire under control.

As per reports, this incident also disrupted train services in the region as some of the overhead railway equipments also got damaged.

Before the fire tenders could come, the local residents and refinery staffs rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons. The injured were then taken to hospital for medical treatment. Some injured persons are said to be in a critical condition.

It said that naphtha is a very flammable hydrocarbon that can catch fire easily. It also warned people to stay away from petroleum products and not handle them without permission because it is risky and unsafe.

The reason behind the fire accident is under investigation.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
