Bhubaneswar: Father killed, son critical after a bus hit a bike today morning in the capital city of Odisha. The tragic accident occurred on the Khandagiri overbridge here when an OSRTC bus allegedly hit a bike and fled the spot. One person died on the spot while his son sustained critical injuries.

The identity of the deceased and the injured is yet to be ascertained.

According to eyewitnesses, the OSRTC bus hit the bike riders and sped away. The father died at the scene. The injured son has been rushed to hospital for treatment.

Following the accident, tension gripped the area. Demanding justice, locals blocked National Highway 16 and staged a dharna on the road. Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the highway due to the protest.

Police reached the spot and are trying to bring the situation under control. A manhunt has been launched to trace the absconding bus and its driver.
