Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Main Written Examination will commence tomorrow. According to the revised schedule issued by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), the examinations will continue till November 7.

The OCS Main Exam schedule had previously been altered due to the impact of cyclone ‘Arnab’. However, the government has clarified that the examinations will not be postponed any further, despite the prevailing flood situation.

As per the OCS Main Exam schedule, the Odia language paper will be held tomorrow from 9 AM to 12 PM, followed by the English language paper from 2 PM to 5 PM.

Additionally, various General Studies papers are scheduled for November 2 and 4, the Essay paper for November 5, and the optional subject examinations for November 7.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and flooding following Cyclone ‘Arnab’ have disrupted transportation across various parts of southern Odisha, including the Ganjam district.

In some areas, roads have become submerged, while in others, they have been washed away. Consequently, candidates are increasingly concerned about reaching their examination centers.

Given these circumstances, there were demands to postpone the examination. However, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari has stated that the examination will not be deferred any further. He noted that if the examination were to be cancelled, it could take approximately six months to reschedule it.

He further clarified that the government is making arrangements to ensure that candidates from flood-affected areas are not deprived of the opportunity to take the examination.

According to reports, there are approximately 325 examinees from Ganjam district and about 100 from other areas that have been affected by the recent flood. The respective BDOs have been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the OCS Main Exam candidates reach their examination centres.
