Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low pressure area has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Andaman Sea. The system is likely to intensify further and develop into a depression within the next 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Saturday.

As per the latest bulletin, the weather system, which has been gradually gaining strength, is currently moving west-northwestwards. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to approximately 7.6 kilometres above mean sea level, indicating the system’s growing intensity.

According to the IMD forecast, the system is expected to intensify further over the next 12 hours. It is likely to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast and reach closer to the coastline by the evening of November 2.

The developing weather system has raised concerns over rough sea conditions and possible rainfall along coastal regions. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the deep sea as sea conditions are likely to deteriorate.
