Bhubaneswar: Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik has strongly criticised the Odisha BJP government over the discovery of hundreds of errors in Odia textbooks for Classes I to VIII.
In a post in ‘X’, Patnaik called it a glaring example of administrative negligence and irresponsibility towards education.
The LoP described errors such as misspelling the names of eminent personalities, referring to Ganjam district as Brahmapur, and numerous spelling mistakes as serious lapses rather than minor oversights.

Patnaik alleged that a government which came to power promising ‘Odia Asmita’ has instead dealt the biggest blow to the Odia language and script.
“Tampering with children’s education during their formative years is unacceptable and unforgivable,” he said, demanding that the government immediately replace the faulty books with error-free textbooks and ensure quality education for every student in the state.
