Schools and colleges in Kataka district to remain closed tomorrow

Kataka: Schools, Anganwadi Centres and colleges in Kataka district to remain closed tomorrow following the forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy to very heavy rainfall across the district.

The district administration issued an emergency order for closure of all government, government-aided, and private schools, colleges, and Anganwadi Centres in the district shall remain closed tomorrow as the weather department has issued an Orange Warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district until the morning of July 6, 2026 (Monday).

  • Closure of Educational Institutions: All educational institutions (Government, Aided, and Private Schools, Colleges, and Anganwadi Centres) across Kataka district shall remain closed tomorrow i.e., on 06.07.2026.
  • Prohibition of Activities in Water Bodies: Swimming, bathing, and any other recreational or commercial activities in the Mahanadi river and all its distributaries are strictly prohibited until further orders.
  • The Commissioner, Kataka Municipal Corporation (CMC), and all Block Development Officers (BDOs) are directed to immediately promulgate this restriction near all river ghats through public address systems and deploy dedicated Nodal Officers for continuous monitoring.
  • All Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) of respective Police Stations and Police Patrol vehicles are hereby directed to strictly enforce this prohibition and prevent public access to the ghats.
  • Suspension of Construction Works: All major construction works, both public and private, across the district shall remain suspended tomorrow i.e., on 06.07.2026. Exception is granted only to those construction and repair works directly related to flood management, emergency relief, and disaster mitigation work.
  • The Operation of Sand Sairat Sources in the District shall be Closed till further order Any violation of this order shall be dealt with strictly under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and other applicable laws.
