Teacher Recruitment 2026: Karnataka Government has begun recruitment process for 15,000 teaching posts in government schools after several years of pending move.

This recruitment drive aims to address the shortage of teachers across primary and secondary government schools.

The draft recruitment rules for the job have been released to get feedbacks from public before the final process is out.

The recruitment is published under Karnataka Education Department Services (Public Education Department) (Recruitment for Certain Teaching Posts) (Special) Rules, 2026.

Government has formed 16-member exam authority for recruitment, School Education Commissioner to head it.

Vacancies:

Primary School Teachers
Graduate Primary School Teachers
Physical Education Teachers (Grade I and Grade II)
High School Assistant Teachers
Computer Science Teachers

Number of Vacancies for the posts:

Primary School Teachers: 900
Graduate Primary School Teachers: 8,500
Physical Education Teachers: High school+ Class 1-8: 450+150
High School Assistant Teachers: 4,500
Computer Science Teachers: 500

Eligibility:

Age: Minimum 21 years
Upper age limit: General- 38 years, Categories 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B – 41 years, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Category 1 and Persons with Disabilities- 43 years.
