YouTuber Prashna Ravan re-arrested after bail over remarks on Pawan Kalyan

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh-based YouTuber and political commentator Prashna Ravan, also known as Bachalakuri Joseph, was arrested repeatedly despite being granted bail in the past

The whole controversy escalated when Prashna Ravan made alleged insulting and abusive statements about Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and his family at a public meeting in Eluru.

Subsequently, after the circulation of the videos of the speech across the state, the police filed several complaints against him across several districts in Andhra Pradesh.

For the first time, the police arrested him in Hyderabad on June 30 and brought him to Pithapuram in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh, where the court had granted him bail

Soon after, another case was registered against him in connection with an FIR, and he was arrested.

The same has continued for a few more days, as he got a few more new cases registered against him, and he was again taken into custody by the police for the same, although the court has granted him bail.

The latest case was registered by the police at Gannavaram Police Station in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, in which the provisions of the UAPA, besides the provisions of the BNS, have been applied.

Police have alleged that the comments by Prashna Ravan were beyond the scope of defamatory content.

The series of arrests has been questioned by various opposition parties, activists, and several lawyers, as the repeated arrests in connection with several FIRs are highly inappropriate in the country’s judicial system.

The YSR Congress Party has promised to extend legal help to the family of the Youtuber.

The further proceedings in the case are underway.
