Senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra takes charge as Interim DGP of Odisha

Kataka: Senior IPS officer Vinaytosh Mishra, the DGP, CID, Crime Branch, on Sunday took charge as the Interim Director General of Police (DGP) (Head of Police Force) of Odisha.

Vinaytosh Mishra of 1993-batch officer of Indian Police Service (IPS) took the additional charge of DGP from the outgoing DGP YB Khurania, who retired from the post today.

Mishra will continue to be the Interim DGP of Odisha until further order of the state government or the appointment of new DGP. It is to be noted here that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on August 14 had approved the proposal to appoint him as the Interim DGP of Odisha.

Vinaytosh, an Odisha cadre IPS officer of the 1993 batch, is currently working as the DG of the CID Crime Branch. He joined the Indian Police Service on September 5, 1993.

During his more than three decades of service, Vinaytosh has held many important positions in police administration, modernization, crime investigation and other areas. He took charge as ADGP Modernization in 2018 and later served as ADGP Police Headquarters.

Vinaytosh also served as the Director of the State Crime Records Bureau in 2020. Prior to this, he held various positions in the Odisha Fire Service, Home Guard and Civil Defence, along with the IG Railways.

Later, Vinaytosh was promoted to the rank of DG and was appointed as the DG of the CID Crime Branch from January 2025. In terms of educational qualifications, he has a BSc in Engineering and a Master’s degree in Police Management.
