Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13, according to a forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, its possible impact on Odisha remains uncertain.

Currently, a cyclonic circulation is active over the Gulf of Thailand, while another cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the Andaman Sea on October 11.

The two cyclonic circulations may merge, leading to the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13.

After its formation, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards. However, it is too early to predict whether the low-pressure area will intensify into a depression or deep depression.

The exact path and intensity of the weather system also remain uncertain, as different meteorological models are indicating varying possibilities regarding its movement and development.

Meanwhile, weather experts are closely monitoring the evolving system to assess its potential impact on Odisha and other coastal regions.
