Baranga Tehsil staff, truck drivers detained after late-night vehicle check dispute

Baranga : A late-night vehicle checking drive by the Baranga Tehsil administration on Friday ended in a spat after a vehicle owner alleged that a tehsil employee was drunk on duty and harassed him and other drivers while checking their vehicles.

According to reports, the Baranga Tehsil squad was checking vehicles at different points of the Tehsil, when the officers stopped three Hyva trucks carrying sand near the Baranga police station while chasing them.

The drivers of the Hyva trucks, said to be returning from other locations after the transit permits, claimed that they were not carrying any document to transport minor minerals.

Despite the driver showing the permit, one of the tehsildar staff in drunk condition allegedly abused the driver and picked up a quarrel.

Meanwhile, the truck drivers then went to the Baranga Police station with tehsildar staff and both were taken into custody.

Police are investigating the matter.
