Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around October 23. This may intensify further in the subsequent days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per the latest weather update issued at 5.30 AM on Wednesday (October 21), an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Thailand and adjoining Thailand and Myanmar persisted over the same region.

The cyclonic circulation is likely to emerge into the North Andaman Sea on Wednesday.

Thereafter, the system is expected to move west-northwestwards. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around October 23.

The IMD has further predicted that the system is likely to move northwestwards and intensify further in the subsequent days.
