Indian Women murdered in Canada’s Toronto, Partner under scanner

New Delhi: A 30-year-old Indian women was found dead in Toronto, Canada. The police suspect it to be believed in an act of intimate partner violence.

The victim has been identified as Himanshi Khurana, while the accused is Abdul Ghafoori , who has been charged with first degree murder. Canadian authorities have issued a nationwide warrant for the arrest of a 32 year old man in connection with the murder.

According to Toronto police, officers responded to a missing person complaint on Friday night around 10: 40 pm in the Strachan Avenue and Wellington street West area. Following the report an investigation was launched.

On Saturday at around 6:30 am, police recovered the woman’s body from inside a residence. The death was confirmed as a homicide, following which the Homicide Unit took charge of the investigation.

According to CP24 news, Police said the victim and the suspect were known to each other. As per investigators, this is Toronto’s 40th homicide of 2025. Officials confirmed that the two were in an intimate partner relationship and said images of the suspect having been released to seek public assistance.

The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed shock over Khurana’s death and said it has been in close contact and has been providing all possible help to the bereaved family

“We are deeply saddened and shocked by the murder of Ms. Himanshi Khurana, a young Indian national, in Toronto. We extend our deepest condolences to her bereaved family during this moment of profound grief.” It said in an X post.
