New Delhi: Cooking gas will now become costlier for households across India after prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been revised up by Rs.29 per cylinder. These revised rates will be applicable from June 7th onwards.

Following the latest increase, the price of a regular 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has moved up from Rs. 913 to Rs. 942 in Delhi. Similar revisions are seen across the country, with the final prices also fluctuating between the various cities depending on the various taxes and transportation charges applied at the final consumer level.

The revision is taking place when households across India are increasingly monitoring expenses, especially in view of volatile fuel and energy prices across countries. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is one of the dominant cooking fuels in India, and price increases thereof impact a large number of households.

Industry observers suggest that the price of LPG cylinders is determined by various factors such as international fuel prices, import costs, currency exchange rates, and transportation and distribution costs, and revisions are made by Oil Marketing Companies according to market forces.

Consumers are expected to experience this increase directly on their monthly expenses. Beneficiaries availing government subsidy schemes, if any, shall receive the same according to previously set conditions.

This recent increase comes after several fluctuations in fuel prices in the past year or so as policymakers try to balance consumer prices and global energy trends. Consumers can look out for updated prices of LPG cylinders in their respective areas from the LPG distributors or oil marketing companies.
