New Delhi: New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips scored a stunning batting display against India, hitting the joint second-quickest century by a batter against the Men in Blue in T20 Internationals.

Phillips got to the three-figure mark after just 48 balls in the fourth T20I at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

An explosive knock from him put India’s bowlers under huge pressure as the hosts looked to get a foothold back into the five-match series.

Phillips scored his hundred off 48 balls, which also equalise as the joint second-fastest century made by a batter against India in T20I cricket. He was eventually dismissed for 107 off 49 balls, which included eight fours and eight sixes.

His innings was a key factor in New Zealand managing an enormous 259/7 in their 20 overs, attacking the Indian attack from the start.

The middle order of New Zealand also scored important runs with Phillips batting patiently to hold the innings together while scoring quickly.

His knock came at a critical juncture of the series as India was already 3-0 up after winning the first three games.

The fourth T20I gave New Zealand the chance to score their first win of the series, with India having to chase down a formidable target.

Another remarkable page was added to the short history of the century for Phillips.
