Mumbai: India batter Suryakumar Yadav has been excluded from Mumbai’s squad for their opening game of the Ranji Trophy against Chandigarh despite being available for selection.
The decision was taken not to include the senior batter by the Mumbai selectors and the absence of any recent red-ball matches is believed to be the primary reason behind this.
A significant task, 19-year-old Mhatre has been appointed the Mumbai vice-captain. This emerging Indian batter is rated among the most promising stocks in Indian domestic cricket, and the selectors have handed him additional duties.

This leave them with 10 options to choose from in the opening match of the season. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Musheer Khan and Shams Mulani are in Mumbai’s squad for the first game.
Mumbai will play against Chandigarh in their first match of the Ranji Trophy on October 11 at the Wankhede Stadium.
His non-selection makes his future in red-ball cricket even more uncertain, although the selectors could revisit that decision after he plays more first-class cricket.
