New Delhi: India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, alongside its network of central public sector enterprises (CPSEs), has generated Rs 49.46 crore in revenue by offloading accumulated scrap and electronic waste under the government’s Special Campaign 6.
The financial yield surpassed administrative expectations, outperforming the campaign’s internal Rs 41 crore monetization goal by 20.63 per cent to reach 120.63 per cent of the targeted sum.
Simultaneously, the systemic clearing drive unlocked 3.42 lakh square feet of prime operating room across departmental offices and public sector installations nationwide. That tally marks a 13.20 per cent expansion compared to the 3.03 lakh square feet reclaimed during the preceding year’s initiative.
In a performance review released on Wednesday, October 28, the ministry highlighted that the drive has successfully beaten its historical benchmarks on both counts: total square footage recovered and revenue realized from redundant assets.

Structured around institutional decluttering, Special Campaign 6 targets four primary operational pillars across the oil and gas sector: systemic cleanliness, optimized real estate utilization, upgraded record management, and the methodical disposal of obsolete equipment and e-waste.
The ministry stated that the sustained momentum demonstrates an ongoing institutional push to instill scientific waste processing, maintain cleanliness standards at production sites and administrative headquarters, and upgrade day-to-day administrative efficiency. It noted that clearing long-neglected physical paperwork and outmoded equipment directly enables units to redeploy valuable workspace for core operational demands.
Ongoing execution remains under centralized oversight. According to the ministry, supervising authorities are actively tracking milestones and pressing affiliated energy entities to accelerate progress toward remaining targets, with particular emphasis on ecological compliance, safe e-waste management protocols, and overall workplace environmental standards under the broader Swachhata framework.
