PM Modi to flag off India’s first Hydrogen-Powered train on July 17

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch India’s first hydrogen-powered train on July 17, during his visit to Haryana.
The train will operate between Jind and Sonipat on the Northern Railway route.
It will help to make India one of the few countries in the world to adopt this new-age public transport. The train will run on hydrogen fuel cell technology.
It is equipped with a system to produce electricity by means of an electrochemical process that involves combining hydrogen and oxygen.
The process releases only water vapour and heat. The initiative aims to curb carbon emissions from trains.

PM Modi will inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for several other development projects worth over Rs 26,800 crore in many states.
Indian Railways has developed a hydrogen train as part of its ‘Green Mobility’ initiatives.
Officials claim that the launch of this train is a major technological breakthrough and is part of a larger effort to modernize India’s railway network
It will reduce dependence on fossil fuels and promote environmentally friendly transportation.
It is anticipated that this launch will herald an era of hydrogen trains in India, as the country invests further in clean fuel alternatives.
