30 injured as bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims overturned in J&K

Srinagar: A bus was carrying at least 50 Amarnath pilgrims overturned which resulted in 30 people getting injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district today early morning.

The bus picked up the pilgrims from the Baltal base camp to Srinagar during which this accident occurred. The vehicle reportedly olled about 20-25 metres down a roadside slope before coming to rest on the roof of a house.

The victims of the incident were 30 in number and have sustained minor injuries.

Following the incident, the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police came to the spot and launched a rescue operation immediately after the incident.

The cause of the accident is yet to be known, it is being investigated.

Further investigation into this matter is underway.
