New Delhi: The Strait of Hormuz once again becomes the scene of new commercial attacks as the US retaliates with another set of strikes against Iranian targets.
The tenuous US-Iran peace pact was tested once again on Thursday following an exchange of fire.
Reports from overseas indicated that several commercial vessels, such as an oil tanker and LNG carriers, were targeted in the vicinity of the strategically located passage.
This renewed wave of attacks has heightened worries about the security of international trade routes and the world’s supply of energy.
After the latest attacks on commercial shipping, the United States executed new airstrikes in which they said struck more than 80 locations throughout Iran’s military infrastructure.

White House officials said these attacks were an answer to the assaults targeting international commercial ships.
However, Iran dismissed the American military operations and vowed an extremely forceful retaliation for these violations that it called a repudiation of the existing accord.
This escalation of tension could have an impact on current discussions in progress to bring stability to the region, thereby deterring any further and wider armed conflict.
The analysts remain concerned that the state of affairs will evolve in relation to how successful diplomatic discourse could become in preventing additional aggravation and hostility.
