Odisha rain alert: Orange alert issued for 6 districts today, watch

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Centre (IMD) has issued an orange alert for six districts of Odisha today in view of continuous heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
The other districts of the state have been sounded with a yellow alert.
As per the forecast by the weather department, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated places of Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Baragada, Boudh and Subarnapur districts.
Heavy to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in coastal to interior Odisha with western districts expected to receive more rainfall today.
A yellow alert for heavy rainfall has also been issued for as many as 10 districts for tomorrow.
The low-pressure system is very likely to move further northwest and concentrate into a deep depression before moving away.

IMD has informed that the weather condition is likely to prevail till August 27, post which rainfall activity in the state would likely decrease.
However, the state has been battered by heavy to extremely heavy rainfall from yesterday itself under the influence of the low-pressure zone.
As per the weather department, another low-pressure area is very likely to form in the Bay of Bengal towards the end of the month.
