GIFT City: Global traders operating out of Gujarat’s international financial hub can now trade nearly non-stop across all major time zones, as NSE International Exchange (NSEIX) moves to an expansive 23-hour and 30-minute daily schedule.

Effective November 2, 2026, the GIFT City-based bourse begins operations each morning at 3:15 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) and runs through 2:45 AM IST the following day. The shift gives cross-border investors a virtually unbroken trading day, spanning market hours across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

V. Balasubramaniam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSEIX, characterized the 23.5-hour trading window as a major step toward establishing an internationally accessible marketplace out of GIFT City. He noted that uninterrupted market access across different regions provides participants with heightened flexibility while deepening GIFT City’s ties to global capital networks.

The elongated daily schedule is structured around an underlying technology stack built to absorb rapid turnover. Routine system maintenance between market sessions is handled in under 3 minutes, while comprehensive end-of-day maintenance cycles take less than 15 minutes.

Through this streamlined infrastructure, NSEIX stated that it has established a fresh worldwide standard by delivering continuous five-day-a-week market availability for roughly 24 hours daily. The exchange noted that this setup serves as a significant milestone in widening international access and giving institutional participants room to actively adjust and hedge exposures as foreign developments unfold.

First established on June 5, 2017, the Gandhinagar-based venue operates as a multi-asset trading platform under the oversight of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). Its current catalog spans Indian single-stock derivatives, index derivatives, currency derivatives, depository receipts, and global equities.

Looking ahead, NSEIX said it will keep focusing on deepening global participation and refining its trading architecture to match the evolving demands of institutional investors worldwide.
