NHRC to Probe Alleged Assault on Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha in Kendrapara

Kendrapara: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is set to investigate the case involving Tikhiri Sarpanch Chameli Ojha in Odisha’s Kendrapara district, following allegations that she was assaulted and misbehaved with inside the chamber of the Mahakalapada Block Development Officer (BDO).

The alleged incident took place on June 11. A three-member NHRC team is scheduled to reach Kendrapara on October 5 to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

The Commission’s office in New Delhi has reportedly informed the Kendrapara Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Collector about the visit through an official communication.

During the investigation, the NHRC team is expected to meet and question all parties connected with the case.

Officials of Mahakalapada Police Station, the BDO, employees of the BDO office, eyewitnesses present during the alleged incident, the investigating officer and doctors concerned are likely to be questioned as part of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, no reaction has been received from the district administration or police regarding the NHRC probe so far.
