IMD issues rain warnings for five days in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued rain warnings for a total of five days in Odisha.

As predicted by the weather department, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind to continue in the state till July 4.

Day 1 (Valid upto 8.30 AM of June 29):

ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur and Boudh.
Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawrangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.
Light to Moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri and at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of June 29 to 8.30 AM of June 30):

ORANGE WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Gajapati.
YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

YELLOW WARNING: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
