Ketan Agarwal’s grandfather dies weeks after grandson’s death

Mumbai: Just days after mourning the loss of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal, the Agarwal family is yet again in the grips of tragedy.

Ketan’s 71-year-old grandfather, Devichand Agarwal, passed away on Saturday night at a private hospital in Pune, merely 17 days after the passing of his grandson.

Family members said that Devichand had not been well since the news of Ketan’s death broke.

The shock is said to have led to his deteriorating health. It was difficult for him to cope with the loss, and his health worsened,” a family member informed

He suffered a cardiac arrest, was rushed to the hospital, and was declared dead at 9:45 pm on Saturday.

While the family attributes his demise to grief, no official medical statement indicated that he died solely of a broken heart.

Ketan Agarwal had died, falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.

The death that was initially assumed to be accidental turned into a probe into an alleged murder when the police arrested Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary.

With the death of Devichand Agarwal, the family is left grappling with two consecutive painful losses within a gap of a few weeks, while also demanding justice for Ketan.
