Pregnant woman among three critical as truck runs over bike in Balasore

Balasore: A pregnant woman and two other youngsters were critically injured after a truck allegedly ran over a bike in Odisha’s Balasore district.

This tragic accident occured near the Rajghat Bridge on the National Highway-16 under the Jaleswar police limits.

As per reports, all three injured persons are from Kadarayan area under the Singla police limits.

Sources said, they were riding the motorbike to Jaleswar hospital when a truck hit their motorcycle from rear side, leaving them critically injured.

All three injured were immediately rescued and sent to G. K. Bhattar Hospital in Jaleswar for treatment.

Following which, angry villagers staged a blockade on the NH-16 immediately after the accident in protest and compensation demanded by them.

The traffic on the highway became stuck for sometime but was resumed later.

On being informed,  Jaleswar police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitated villagers.

A case has been registered at Jaleswar police station.

Further investigation is underway.
