Good news for govt employees! 78-day bonus approved for Railway employees, Check eligibility
by Sunita · KalingaTVThe Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Union Cabinet has approved a bonus of 78 days for the railway employees. The cabinet has passed a total of Rs 2,028.57 crore bonus for 11.72 lakh railway employees.
The bonus will be paid to various categories of Railway employees including track maintainers, loco pilots, station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, train managers (guards), pointsman, Ministerial staff and other Group XC staff, according to the official statement.
The railways employees will be given the bonus as per their productivity performance so far.
However, the Indian Railways has not released the official notice regarding the timeline and other information yet. According to reports, the government is likely to disburse the bonus before the Dussehra and Diwali holidays.
Railway Bonus 2024 eligibility
The railway employees will get the bonus depending on their performance in the year. There has been no clear information about the criteria of performance assessment.

Railway will provide a maximum bonus of Rs 17,951 for 78 days’ worth of wages to each eligible railway employee. The approval for the bonuses for employees came as the railways has displayed an impressive performance during the financial year (FY 2023-24).
The Indian Railways achieved a record performance during the previous financial year. The Indian Railways has managed to load 1,588 million tonnes of cargo and transport approximately 6.7 billion passengers with its improved infrastructure, a boost in capex, and high efficiency, according to the Cabinet.
