Ganjam youth dies in blast, his parents critical

Ganjam: In a tragic incident, youth died while his parents were seriously injured in an explosion at Singipur village in Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam district in Odisha.
The deceased youth has been identified as Akash Das.
As per reports, the explosion took place at the house of the family, where some firecrackers were allegedly being made.
According to the neighbours of the family, it was raining heavily accompanied by lightning and the explosion could have been triggered by the lightning strike.
Following which, Akash had succumbed to injuries in the explosion.

Doctors at the hospital where he was rushed declared him dead.
The parents, who had also suffered severe injuries, were initially treated there and then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for advanced medical care.
The powerful explosion had carried the body of Akash to some distance from the house, sources said.
Even portions of the house were damaged, with walls collapsed due to the blast, sources added.
On being informed, Patapur Police rushed to the hospital and have initiated an inquiry into the cause of the explosion.
