Odisha Partners With NTU Singapore on 4 Clean Tech Deals
by Vinay Kakkad · KalingaTVAdvertisement
Singapore: Odisha has broadened its international research alliances across grid technology, energy storage, and green fuels after concluding four separate collaboration pacts with multinational corporate partners and academia during the Asia Clean Energy Summit.
The agreements, finalized during Singapore International Energy Week running October 27–29, 2026, establish joint research pipelines spanning artificial intelligence, power digitalization, sodium-ion and flow batteries, next-generation smart distribution networks, and green hydrogen generation. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore serves as the institutional knowledge partner across the initiatives.
The state’s Energy Department signed the pacts alongside NTU’s Energy Research Institute, drawing global private-sector engineering into an existing institutional research framework.

Each partnership targets a distinct technical bottleneck in the clean power transition:
- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Singapore: Joint development will focus on digitalization frameworks and artificial intelligence-driven workbench platforms engineered for smart governance and consumer utility delivery.
- VFlowTech, Singapore: Research will explore flow battery systems intended to strengthen energy storage performance and reinforce overall electrical grid resilience.
- PHENOGY, Singapore: Programs will investigate sodium-ion chemistry for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) integrated directly into power grids.
- DANFOSS Drives Oy, Finland: Collaborative engineering will concentrate on green hydrogen generation, next-generation microgrid architecture, and seamless smart grid integration.
Representing the respective counterparties at the signing table were Dr. Debidutta Tripathy, OFS, Special Secretary in Odisha’s Energy Department, and Prof. Madhavi Srinivasan, Executive Director of the Energy Research Institute @ NTU.
The state delegation in Singapore featured key power-sector leadership, including GRIDCO Limited Managing Director Dr. Satya Priya Rath, IAS; GRIDCO Director (Commercial) Er. Debasish Das; and IIT Bhubaneswar Dean of Postgraduate and Research studies, Prof. Subhransu Ranjan Samantaray.
