Tuition Teacher arrested for allegedly raping class 8 student

Balasore: Crime against women and girls in Odisha continue to rise every passing day as a Tuition Teacher allegedly sexually assaulted a class eight student in Balasore district of Odisha.

According to reports, the accused tuition teacher was appointed as the Gaon Sathi under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Kamarda Police Station area.

Apart from working as Gaon Sathi, the accused was also reportedly taking tuition for the village students. While taking classes, he raped the minor girl by taking the advantage of her loneliness.

The matter came to the light after the girl informed her family members about the rape after reaching home, who later lodged a complaint at the Kamarda Police Station seeking action against the tuition teacher.

Based on the complaint, police started an investigation into the matter and detained the accused for interrogation.  Further probe is still underway.
