Keonjhar: Dreaded criminal Prabhat Malik injured in police encounter

Keonjhar: Prabhat Malik, who is one of the most wanted criminals of Keonjhar, was critically injured in a police encounter in the Mahuldiha forest area this morning.

Police also recovered a firearm and cash to the tune of Rs 12,000 from his possession.

According to sources, police had taken Malik to the Mahuldiha forest area after he informed about hiding some stolen money. However, after reaching the spot he suddenly opened fire at the police team by using the gun, that he had hidden along with the cash.

The police team also, in self-defence, retaliated at Malik following which he received bullets on his right knee and started bleeding profusely.

Soon, Prabhat Malik was rushed to the Keonjhar Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated.

Police also reportedly recovered a firearm and Rs 12,000 in cash during the operation.
