Cyclone Arnab: Puri issues advisory, Chilika boat services suspended

Brahmagiri: In view of Cyclone Arnab, the Puri district administration has issued an advisory suspending ferry and tourist boat services in Chilika Lake from October 26 to 29.

As per the advisory, the movement of ferries, tourist boats and other boats will remain suspended in Chilika Lake and all rivers and streams during the period.

The local administration and police have been directed to monitor ferry services and boat operations at ghats. Strict vigil will also be maintained to prevent illegal boat operations.

Block Development Officers (BDOs) will create awareness among people about safety measures to protect lives and property. Tehsildars, BDOs, urban authorities and police officials have been instructed to ensure the order is implemented in their respective areas.

The administration has also directed officials to take strict action against those violating the restrictions.
