Nepal: Six Indian tourists, including two women and four men, have gone missing while trekking towards Shey-Phoksundo Lake in Nepal’s Dolpa district following heavy snowfall in the Himalayan region.
According to officials, the tourists were travelling from Dho towards Phoksundo Lake when they reportedly lost contact near the Numla and Bagla mountain passes. Authorities suspect that the group may have become stranded due to heavy snowfall and difficult weather conditions.
Dolpa Chief District Officer Junu Hamal said the tourists had reportedly continued their journey despite warnings from residents about the dangerous weather and challenging mountain routes.
Rescue operations have been affected by continuous snowfall, thick snow cover and the absence of mobile network connectivity in the mountainous region.
A Nepal Army team has been deployed to locate the missing tourists, while authorities have requested helicopter assistance for search and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the Dolpa District Administration Office has urged tourists to avoid high-risk trekking routes and remain in safe locations until weather conditions improve.
A total of 244 tourists have reached Upper Dolpa, including 149 Nepali nationals, 44 tourists from SAARC countries and 51 from other countries.
Shey-Phoksundo Lake, regarded as Nepal’s deepest lake, is a popular trekking destination known for its scenic Himalayan surroundings. However, sudden snowfall and difficult mountain terrain can pose serious risks to visitors.
The whereabouts and condition of the six missing Indian tourists remain unknown as search and rescue efforts continue.
