‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ star Kaylee Hottle dies at 18 in car crash

Mumbai: Hollywood mourns the passing of actress Kaylee Hottle at 18. Kaylee Hottle, who is known for playing Jia in films such as Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, has died at 18, the family confirmed Monday to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hottle died following a car accident that occurred in Frederick, Md., her father, Joshua Hottle, announced Monday in a video post conveyed in American Sign Language.

She was born to deaf parents and worked to break barriers in the deaf community through her mainstream acting career,

Beginning with her feature role in the 2021 movie “Godzilla vs. Kong” as Jia, who speaks to Kong in ASL.

Hottle reprised her role in this year’s “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” and has earned critical acclaim.

Hottle’s previous credits included television commercials and a guest role on the reboot of “Magnum P.I.”

The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle was a student, mourned her, saying she was a “trailblazer, an advocate, and an inspiration” who had “represented the deaf community brilliantly” on screen and in advocating for inclusion for the deaf.

Condolences have flooded social media.

“So devastated to hear about the passing of Kaylee Hottle,” “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown posted to X, the former Twitter, “Such a talented soul, she will be deeply missed.”

Hottle’s performance and advocacy are remembered as significant steps forward for genuine representation in Hollywood.
