5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes near coastal Chile

New Delhi: An earthquake of 5.5 magnitude was witnessed near coastal Chile on Friday.

The shallow earthquake happened 10 kilometers, or about 6.2 miles, below the ground near coastal Chile on Friday.

No casualties were reported.

In another incident, at least four people got injured after a strong earthquake with 7.2 magnitude struck Japan. Earthquake was witnessed in Iwate coast of Japan during the morning hour, shook north-east and Tokyo.

The earthquake was of 7.2 magnitude which was upgraded from a magnitude of 6.9. It struck at the eastern coast at a depth of about 50 kilometers.

In Venezuela on June 25, two earthquakes hit the region one with magnitude 7.2 and other just within a minute with magnitude 7.5. The regions are identified as near San Felipe and west of Caracas.

Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez has declared a state of emergency following the incident.
