Woman gives birth to twin babies mid-train journey; RPF rushes to aid at Cuttack station

Cuttack:  A pregnant woman successfully gave birth to twin babies amidst a train journey on the Rourkela-Gunupur Rajyarani Express on Sunday

As per reports, she delivered the first baby upon arrival at the Cuttack Railway Station and the second in the ambulance as she was on her way to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Sources revealed that once the railway authorities got information about the woman going into labour, an all out effort was made for her immediate medical help.

Upon arrival of the Rajyarani Express at Platform No.3 at around 6:53AM, railway staff and RPF personnel rushed in to attend to the pregnant lady.

By then she had already given birth to her first baby inside the train.

An emergency announcement was made via the PA system to seeking a doctor or any medical personnel’s assistance at the station.

A pharmacist at the station responded and immediately gave first aid to the woman.

With the support of a woman RPF official and a pharmacist present at the station, the delivery of the first baby was attended to carefully.

However, since she was pregnant with twins and continued with labor pain, she was immediately accommodated in an ambulance to reach the nearest hospital.

During the course of travel in the ambulance, she delivered the second baby.

The mother and both the babies are said to be in good health.
