New Delhi: PCB has permitted Pakistan cricketer Muhammad Rizwan to continue his domestic cricket despite ongoing probe. The investigation is into the leaking of dressing-room information, online betting and gambling.

LAHORE: Muhammad Rizwan will lead Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in the Presidents Cup first-class tournament which starts from today.

The move is a major development for the experienced keeper batter, who hasn’t featured in competitive cricket since Pakistan’s second Test against England at Lord’s in August.

Rizwan and Pakistan’s other batter Imam-ul-Haq were called back from England and interrogated by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The reports also indicated that their cell phones were taken for forensic analysis. It was not clear what exactly was the nature of their complaints.

Rizwan has been questioned by the agency twice. The official cited in the report says the pressure had eased after Rizwan’s final round of questioning in Lahore on October 10 and the probe could end soon. No official confirmation has been given on the closure of the investigation.

While the case still remains under investigation, the PCB’s decision lets Rizwan get back to playing cricket competitively. Rizwan’s clearance has not been issued by the PCB.
