Student of the Year: After Dark trailer is out, Shanaya Kapoor to play double role in deadly mystery

New Delhi: The trailer of Student of the Year: After Dark, starring Shanaya Kapoor in a double role, was unveiled on Tuesday offering a dark twist to Karan Johar’s popular campus franchise.

And leaving the glamour, romance and college rivalries of the movies that came before, the new series brings murder, betrayal and a lethal competition to the hallways of St Teresa Heritage School.

Directed by Reema Maya, the series will launch on Jio Hotstar on November 13.

Shanaya is cast as Aayesha Malik and Aditi, twin sisters in a particular way devastated when one dies shortly immediately after finding the school’s favorite celebrity, usually popular student Aayesha. Aditi can’t accept that her sister’s departure was by accident, though, and so she takes it upon herself to find the truth because of this.

But as she approaches the secret, she starts to realize that her sister’s best friends may have been her most fierce competitors as well.

The trailer delivers a high-stakes universe where aspiration and the need to win can take a life.

By Aditi’s inquiry, the series unravels hidden secrets, double-crossing and the unpleasant aspect of a student’s life. The stark difference in the way Shanaya has depicted both the twins is a defining new chapter of her career as an actor.

Dharmatic Entertainment has produced the series. The series also stars Abhinav Singh, Divik Sharma, Manya Grover, Deeya Damani, Adi Malik, Sheeba Chaddha and Vivek Gomber.

And with Reema Maya taking charge, Student of the Year: After Dark is trying to re-establish the franchise for a digital audience by swapping campus romance for a whodunit thriller.
