Trump claims perfect score on third cognitive exam
by Ellsworth Toohey · Boing BoingPresident Trump posted on Truth Social Friday that White House doctors have declared him in "perfect health" and that he achieved 100% on a cognitive exam for the third consecutive time. He also suggested that anyone running for president or vice president should be required to take such a test.
As reported in The Hill, "The White House Doctors have just reported that I am in 'PERFECT HEALTH,' and that I 'ACED' (Meaning, was correct on 100% of the questions asked!), for the third straight time, my Cognitive Examination," Trump wrote, "something which no other President, or previous Vice President, was willing to take."
The post came one day after the Wall Street Journal published an interview examining Trump's health at 79 — the oldest person ever elected president. In that interview, Trump clarified that imaging he'd previously described as an MRI was actually a CT scan, conducted because, according to his physician Dr. Sean Barbabella, "men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health."
Trump has had two physical exams in 2025, in April and October. It's unclear when the latest cognitive exam was administered. The test itself — typically the Montreal Cognitive Assessment — screens for dementia and cognitive impairment rather than measuring intelligence or policy acumen. It asks patients to identify animals, draw a clock, and recall a short list of words.
Trump first took the test in 2018 and has repeatedly referenced his performance on it since, particularly when facing questions about his mental fitness for office.
