Aaron Paul enters the Wasteland for season 3 of Fallout

Of course, we knew season 3 of the Fallout TV show was greenlit before season 2 even released. Good thing, too, because most of season 2 was setup that's going to look much worse in retrospect if it never actually pays off.

Season 3 looks to be setting up, quite frankly, exactly the same conflict as 2010's Fallout: New Vegas, with slaver army Caesar's Legion, the semi-functional nation of the New California Republic, and pre-apocalypse business magnate Mr. House coming to blows over the contested territory of New Vegas. Again, Season 2 has taken great pains to functionally undo everything from the game so that it can repeat the plot of the game. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I guess?

Granted, the original game didn't have Aaron Paul in it, which was a failing. Per a Deadline exclusive:

The Prime Video series Fallout is adding some serious star power as Emmy winner Aaron Paul is set to join Season 3. Annabel O'Hagan and Dave Register have also been upped to series regulars for the upcoming season alongside Frances Turner, who was upped to series regular in Season 2.

O'Hagan and Register played Vault dwellers Steph and Chet, in case you forgot. Paul is obviously the bigger get here, though — star power aside, he's also a longtime fan of the game series and has worked with Jonathan Nolan before on Westworld. No word yet on who he's playing, but Vegas isn't too far from Albuquerque…

There's still no release date for Season 3 of the show, and likely won't be for a while if major casting decisions like this are still being made.
