Rs 2 lakh cash, ganja seized during Lokayukta’s raid on Excise offices

The Lokayukta conducted a confidential investigation targeting malpractices in the Excise Department. Inspections were carried out simultaneously at 62 Excise Offices in the Bengaluru City Excise District.

The operation, led by Lokayukta Justice BS Patil and Sub-Divisional Commissioner Justice Beerappa, began at 3 pm.

They visited the Yeshwantpur and Byatarayanapura Excise Offices, uncovering numerous deficiencies. During the raid, approximately `2 lakh in unauthorised cash, along with ganja and 16 bottles of alcohol bottles, were seized.

An investigation into these findings has been ordered. So far, over 132 cases related to these irregularities have already been registered and are at various stages of investigation.
