YSS Baramulla resumes inter-school zonal competitions

Baramulla, May 15: Breathing new life into school-level sports, the Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department Baramulla resumed its inter-school zonal competitions across the district on Thursday.

Held in the educational zones of Dangerpora, Singpora Pattan, and Pattan, the events drew enthusiastic participation from over 200 students, signalling a strong comeback for structured youth sports in the region.

In YSS Zone Dangerpora, an inter-school zonal level badminton competition for U-14 and U-17 boys was successfully organised at Higher Secondary School Dangerpora. Around 70 students from various government and private institutions actively participated in the competition, showcasing commendable sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

Similarly, YSS Zone Singpora Pattan hosted the Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition for U-14 and U-17 girls at HSS Gund Khawaja Qasim. The event witnessed participation from 70 girl students representing different government and private schools, further promoting gender-inclusive participation in sports.

Meanwhile, YSS Zone Pattan conducted the Inter-School Zonal Level Badminton Competition for U-14 and U-17 boys at Sports Planet, Palhallan. A total of 80 students from diverse educational backgrounds took part in the event, making it a grand success.

DYSSO Baramulla appreciated the efforts of all zones in ensuring the smooth conduct of competitions and reiterated the department’s commitment to providing a platform for young athletes to excel and grow through regular sporting activities.
