2027 Yamaha Crosser ADV Launched With Multiple Updates In Brazil – Bajaj ADV Rival?

Yamaha has launched the updated 2027 Crosser dual-sport adventure motorcycle in Brazil, with prices starting at BRL 22,890 (Rs 4.27 lakh). While the engine and core mechanical package remain unchanged, Yamaha has added new features and safety equipment for the 2027 model.

The timing is interesting as Bajaj is preparing to launch its first adventure motorcycle in Brazil before the end of 2026. Bajaj’s upcoming ADV is already undergoing homologation-related work in the country, potentially setting up a rivalry with established models such as Yamaha Crosser.

2027 Yamaha Crosser – What’s New?

One of the key updates for 2027 Yamaha Crosser is a full LED lighting package. While the outgoing motorcycle already has an LED projector headlamp and LED DRLs, the updated model adds LED turn indicators at the front and rear along with an LED tail lamp.

Another significant addition is Bluetooth connectivity through the Yamaha Motor On app. Once paired with a smartphone, riders can access information such as average fuel efficiency, route history, maintenance schedules and the last paired location.

The digital instrument console can display call and message notifications as well as the connected smartphone’s battery level. Other information includes a gear-position indicator, tachometer and ECO function. Yamaha has also added a side-stand engine cut-off switch as part of the safety updates.

Crosser S Vs Crosser Z

Yamaha continues to offer Crosser in two versions, S and Z, with the differences primarily focused on styling. Crosser S gets a conventional front fender along with a smaller raised fender. It also has a matte black finish for the engine and rear swingarm. Colour choices include Black Eclipse and Fire Red.

Crosser Z has a more prominent raised front fender that gives it a stronger off-road appearance. Its engine gets a silver finish, while Pure Grey is offered as an exclusive colour. Fire Red is also available. 2027 Yamaha Crosser S ABS Connected is priced at BRL 22,890 (Rs 4.27 lakh), while Crosser Z ABS Connected costs BRL 23,090 (Rs 4.30 lakh).

149cc Flex-Fuel Engine Continues

There are no major mechanical changes for 2027. Crosser continues with its 149cc air-cooled flex-fuel engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox. It develops 11.4 hp when running on gasoline and 11.7 hp with ethanol. Peak torque is 12.75 Nm with either fuel.

In tests designed to replicate urban riding conditions, Crosser returned fuel efficiency of 43.1 km/l. Combined with its 12-litre fuel tank, this gives the motorcycle a potential range of more than 500 km.

It rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels with 90/90 and 110/90 tyres, respectively. Suspension comprises telescopic front forks and a linkage-type monocross at the rear. Braking hardware includes a 245 mm front disc and 203 mm rear disc, with ABS.

New Bajaj ADV Coming To Brazil

Yamaha Crosser could soon face fresh competition as Bajaj prepares to enter the adventure motorcycle segment in Brazil. Bajaj Brazil Executive Director Waldyr Ferreira recently indicated that customers interested in an on-road/off-road Bajaj motorcycle can expect a “big Christmas present” before the end of 2026.

Ferreira confirmed that units of the upcoming ADV are already in Brazil. Teams in Manaus are currently working on parts development and homologation. Brazil is among the priority markets for the motorcycle, although Bajaj has not yet confirmed whether its global debut will take place there.

Test mules have also been spotted extensively in India, revealing features such as a front beak, wire-spoke wheels, high-mounted exhaust and a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination. The production name and engine specifications have not been announced. Bajaj has trademarked the Trekker name, while a 250cc engine derived from Pulsar N250 is one possibility.

Bajaj ADV Rival?

Whether Bajaj’s upcoming motorcycle will be a direct rival to Yamaha Crosser will ultimately depend on its engine capacity, pricing and positioning. Crosser uses a relatively modest 149cc engine, whereas the Bajaj test motorcycle is expected to occupy a higher performance bracket if it launches with a 250cc engine.

There is an India connection as well. Yamaha had previously explored bringing Crosser to India, although there have been no recent updates regarding such a launch. Bajaj ADV, on the other hand, has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and is expected to be introduced here as well.
